Wednesday, July 16, 2003 was a beautiful evening in Chippewa Falls. We
took all five kids and their Florida cousins, Marcus and Cristina, on a
long walk through downtown to Olson's Ice Cream parlour. On the way
back, we meandered through Irvine Park. There, we lingered around the
stone fountain in the rose garden.
Beth warned the kids to get down from the stones, but David's famous
last words were, "Don't worry, Mom, we're not gonna fall."
Fortunately, when Alison DID fall a couple minutes later,
it was after she had already
descended from the ten-foot top to a section only a few feet off the
ground. Still, three feet is enough height to build a velocity
sufficient to break a wrist when that wrist is used to break a fall!
(This was only a temporary splint; they need to wait 24 hours for
subsequent swelling to subside before creating the real cast.)
Poor Alison...no piano or swimming for SIX WEEKS! :-(
